What are you reading?

I have been thinking about my reading list lately. There are so many things I would like to put on it. I have to admit at this time I have part of my list on paper and part of it in my head. I know that the part of my list that is in my head is ever changing, which is mostly due to the fact that I tend to store it in my short term memory. I need to be more diligent about it. I have made a master list using Shelfari. The list has 31 books on it. I know there are more that I could add. I will use Google Notebook to take notes. (I won't take notes on fiction.)

I read for several different purposes. I read to relax. I have to admit almost every type of reading is relaxing to me. It is just that some reading prompts me to think too. I also read to develop myself in different areas including personal, spiritual, and professional. I just need to organize the books so that I am using my time to read effectively. I think I am going to categorize the books and develop some kind of rotation for reading. I'm going to have to think about this some more.

Is there a way you organize your reading list? How do you fit reading into your busy schedule? Is there some kind of rotation you use? How do you decide what to read next? Do you read more than one book at once? What are you reading? Do you have any other thoughts you would like to share?

I use my Amazon wishlist to organize books I intend to read -- ordering them when I am low on books to read. I pile books (and magazines) on my bedside table that I need to read -- yes, it's as attractive as it sounds!

It's hardly organized but it works fairly well.

If you get any great ideas, you'll have to keep sharing them. I have the same problem. I start a fiction and nonfiction book at the same time, and mysteriously go through three fiction books before I get that nonfiction book done! I need to have some way to get through those nonfiction books better. I think if I had a way to put down my thoughts/reactions, I would not get so bogged down. I will have to try the Google notes you mentioned.

I love Google Notes. I can be the same way with fiction. I enjoy reading the fiction too. I working on coming up with some kind of a plan for myself and I will post that when I am finished.

I'd love to hear more about how you use Google Notebook along with your reading. I just went over and took their little tour, but that's all I know about it. It seems to be a tool to use with web-based reading, so I'm curious to hear more about how to use it with books!

I'm trying to "up" my knowledge of adolescent chapter books. So, I have been reading many of the current books that are "out there" for kids. I just finished "Schooled" by Gordon Korman and LOVED it!!

I will take that suggestion and add schooled to my list Susan.

About using Google Notes for reading. I tend to transfer notes there. You can keep a notebook or a section on each book that you read. I tend to do it in a journal now but I am planning on transferring my notes there because it will be easy to compare books.

I have to admit that I don't have an organized reading list. I joined an online book club and have made a list of books (using Excel) that I like. Then when I'm looking for something new to read, I peruse my list until something strikes my fancy.
